Best Veggie Dip on the Planet {Good for Chips Too!}

Looking for the best veggie dip? this is the matter! Tangy, creamy and delicious, it’s delicious with vegetables or chips!

Inspired by a recipe from my favorite Instagram account @sharonsaysso, this dip is truly the most delicious veggie dip I’ve ever made.

My kids say it’s “Boossin’!” – I dare say it’s life changing!

Veggie Dip Ingredients

This veggie dip is beyond simple. The hardest part is grating the onions! (We’ll get to that in a minute.)

All you have to do is mix all the ingredients in a bowl:

  • sour cream
  • mayo
  • dill (fresh or dried)
  • Seasoning Salt (Redmond brand is my favorite)
  • grated onion
  • Dry Ranch Seasoning Powder (Hidden Valley or Penzi is my go-to)

Most of these ingredients can be adjusted to taste! Add more or less depending on what your heart tells you to do.

In glass bowl with mayonnaise, sour cream, seasoning salt, ranch powder, and dill.

best way to grate onions

The dip calls for grated onions. It adds the most wonderful flavor without overpowering the raw onion pieces.

I’ve found the best way to grate an onion (I’m using shallots here) is to use the smaller holes of a box grater. Not the pointed holes often found on the back – just small grating holes.

You could also try a Microplane, but I haven’t had much luck using a Microplane for grated onions. Blame me, the onion, or my lousy microplane, but I’m Team Box Grater.

Grate the onion on a box grater.

whisk it and you’re done

You literally just whisk all the ingredients together and you’re done!

At this point, feel free to dip the dip in there and have a good taste so you can add more seasoning or salt or whatever the dip needs.

The dip is quite thick. If you want to dilute it, just whisk in a little buttermilk or milk.

Perfect for Veggies … or Chips

This creamy, tangy, super flavorful dip is perfect for vegetables. of any kind!

  • snap peas
  • Cucumbers
  • parsley
  • Carrot
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Bell peppers
  • jicama
  • cherry tomatoes

It’s also great with chips, especially crispy potato chips. I like the dip for chips to be a bit thinner, but that’s just a personal preference.

This dip is truly magical. This really is the best veggie dip out there. I thank the grated onion, seasoning salt, and ranch seasoning for that.

How good. And it lasts a long time in the fridge (not that you’ll need to worry about that—it’ll be gone in a flash!).

Best Veggie Dip on the Planet

  • ¾ cup ,170 Yes, sour cream
  • and a half cup ,113 Yes, mayonnaise
  • 2 big spoon dry ranch seasoning powder (see Note)
  • 1 tablespoon grated onion (see note)
  • ¼ small spoon dried dill or 2-3 tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • ¼ small spoon seasoning salt (my favorite brand is Redmond)
  • Whisk together all the ingredients. Serve with fresh vegetables and/or chips.

  • The flavor gets better with age; Dip can be made several days in advance and refrigerated until ready to serve.

* Add more or less of any ingredients to taste, depending on your preferences!
Dry Ranch Powder: I made this dip with Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Powder (classic flavor only) and Penzi’s Ranch Seasoning. Both versions are delicious. If you want a homemade version, you can also google several easy recipes for homemade ranch powder.
Grated Onions: I love the flavor of shallots in this dip, but any variety of onion will work (yellow, white, red). I’ve found that using the small holes (not the pointed holes) of a box grater to grate an onion works well (using a microplane doesn’t work well for me when grating an onion).
seasoning salt: Different brands of this type of salt will differ in flavor, so use whatever flavor you like.
