Some have pointed out that she has changed her face with plastic surgery or other procedures. Not all criticism was negative, as sympathize with some Madonna and as long as she had the pressure of being in the limelight.

But Madonna didn’t take the criticism lightly. In fact, on Feb. 7, the pop icon shared some of her favorite words in an Instagram video featuring several people, including Smith, Petras, Cardi B, and more. The video shows Madonna interacting with different stars, but it’s her long caption where all the meat lives.

She began by expressing how she initially wanted to present the award for Album of the Year but thought it would be more meaningful to present a performance by the duo of Petras and Smith. She said that people should have invested more in her speech instead of zooming in on her face, adding that most people would look distorted if a photographer took pictures similar to hers, captioning her video, “Many people only took close ups.” chose to talk about – my photo taken by a press photographer with a long lens camera that would distort anyone’s face!!”

She didn’t hesitate to say straight out that the critiques of her appearance were the result of ageism and misogyny and that there really are no victories for women as they age. “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that pervades the world we live in.
